Work experience
In November 2024 I completed 2 weeks of work experience with a prop and costume company,
Unlikely Studios ( https://www.unlikelystudios.co.uk/ ).
Throughout these two weeks, I worked on several of their ongoing projects.
I started off with a template and cut the leaf patterns out of the foam. Then I did some tests to check the colours were what the client would want.

The client wanted an outfit that looked like a decaying forest.
I experimented with burning and applying the heat gun to the materials.

I cut out strips from a plastic bottle and tested applying heat from a heat gun on them.
I then spray paint the plastic and applied an acrylic wash.

These are some of the final leaves. Overall I made 26.

Final product

I got to do the first stages of making a severed head. I used sponging latex to form a 'skin' layer on the mould, I applied over 40 layers and dried each with a hairdryer before applying the next coat.
These are the images of the final stages of the prop where hair punching was added to the fake head.
The client wanted this to be a severed head so the prop maker painted the bottom to look bloody.

I created the horns using foam and contact adhesive to stick each panel together. After that, I used clay foam to mould the ridges on the horns before painting them.
This is the final product with just the foam and then the base coats of paint.

I was tasked with making a corset using an under locker and a sewing machine. This was my first time using these machines and making something this technical
This is the final product, which took me two days to complete.
